Throughput of Odessa region seaports up 18.9% in Q1 07, y-o-y

In January-March 2007, throughput of Odessa region seaports totaled 24.2 million tons (+18.9%, year-on-year), Odessa state regional administration reports according to RBC-Ukraine. Over the reported period transshipment of transit cargo totaled 13.2 million tons (+47.3%, year-on-year), import amounted to 2.4 million tons (+47.8%), export 8.4 million tons (-14%). Throughput of the port of Odessa amounted to 8.7 million tons (+25.3%), the port of Yuzhny handled 6.3 million tons (+17.1%), Iljichevsk - 3.8 million tons (+9.4%).
The majority of volumes fall on oil and oil products, containerized cargo, metal, coal, ore and grain. Seven commercial seaports operate in the Odessa region. In 2006 they handled 82.6 million tons of cargo.
